How to Convert an Indian Bank Statement to Excel

Three steps. No software to install. Works with public-sector and private banks.

1

Upload Your PDF

Unlock a password-protected netbanking PDF, then upload SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Kotak, or any other Indian statement.

2

AI Extracts Transactions

We read DD/MM/YYYY dates, Indian numbering, rupee symbols, and wrapped UPI / NEFT narrations.

3

Download Excel or CSV

Get a file you can open in Tally Prime, Zoho Books, Busy, or Excel. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD; amounts are numbers.

Supported Indian Banks

Public-sector banks, private banks, small finance banks, and payment apps that issue a transaction PDF.

SBI Kotak Mahindra Union Bank of India ICICI Bank of Baroda
HDFC Bank
Axis Bank
Canara Bank
PNB
Indian Bank
Yes Bank
IDFC FIRST
IndusInd
Bank of India
Central Bank
Federal Bank

And every other Indian bank, co-operative bank, and UPI statement PDF. If it has a transaction table, it converts.

Import Into Tally, Zoho, or Excel

Indian bookkeepers usually need Tally Prime or a spreadsheet — not QuickBooks.

Tally

Tally Prime

Export CSV, then map Date, Particulars, and Amount in Tally’s bank import. The usual path for GST books and CA working papers.

Zoho

Zoho Books

Upload the CSV as a bank statement. Dates are ISO, so Zoho does not flip day and month.

XL

Microsoft Excel

Native .xlsx for review, filters, and GST reconciliations. INR amounts sum correctly.

Why Indian Bank PDFs Need a Dedicated Converter

SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and Kotak still issue monthly statements as PDFs. Those files use Indian dates, lakh/crore commas, and UPI lines that wrap onto two or three rows. A generic “PDF to Excel” tool gives you text you cannot SUM and dates Excel reads as US months.

Tally Prime and GST books

CAs and bookkeepers import bank data into Tally to match GSTR-2B and books of account. StatementKit keeps UPI references and beneficiary names in the narration so you can find a payment without opening the PDF again.

Password-protected netbanking files

Most Indian banks encrypt the download. StatementKit rejects locked PDFs — unlock the file in Preview, Adobe, or the bank’s own viewer, then upload. We do not store the password.

Indian Bank Statement Conversion — FAQ

Common questions from people converting SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and Kotak PDFs.

Which Indian banks are supported?
SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Axis, Union Bank of India, Canara, Bank of Baroda, PNB, Indian Bank, Yes Bank, IDFC FIRST, IndusInd, and any other Indian bank or UPI statement PDF with a transaction table.
Can I import the CSV into Tally Prime?
Yes. Map Date, Particulars, and Amount after you review the file. Excel is better if you want to clean UPI narrations first.
Does it handle UPI, NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS?
Yes. VPAs, UTRs, NACH references, and cheque numbers stay in the description.
What about Indian date and number formats?
DD/MM/YYYY and 1,23,456.78 become YYYY-MM-DD and numeric INR. Excel and Tally can sum the column.
My PDF is password-protected. What do I do?
Unlock it first. StatementKit cannot open encrypted PDFs and deletes the upload if it is locked.
Does it work with credit card statements?
Yes — HDFC, SBI Card, ICICI, Axis, and others. See the credit card statement to Excel page.
Is it free?
Yes. The free plan includes 3 conversions per month. No credit card required. Pro ($19/month) offers 100 statements, and Enterprise ($79/month) is unlimited.
Is my data secure?
Uploads use TLS 1.3. Statements stay in your account so you can review, export, or delete them. We never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy and Security pages.
